Ferro4EdgeAI Partner Update: CEA-Leti Launches FAMES Pilot Line to Advance European Semiconductor Innovation
We are excited to highlight Ferro4EdgeAI partner CEA-Leti's pivotal role in the launch of the FAMES Pilot Line, a groundbreaking initiative supported by the EU Chips Act. This project marks a significant step towards enhancing Europe’s semiconductor capabilities and securing technological sovereignty in a critical industry.
FThe FAMES Pilot Line, coordinated by CEA-Leti, aims to advance semiconductor technologies by developing five key innovations:
FD-SOI (Fully-Depleted Silicon-On-Insulator) at 10nm and 7nm nodes
Non-volatile memory technologies (OxRAM, FeRAM, MRAM, FeFETs)
Radio-frequency components (switches, filters, capacitors)
3D integration options (heterogeneous and sequential integration)
Small inductors for DC-DC converters in Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMIC)
These technologies will create the foundation for the next generation of low-power microcontrollers, AI and machine learning devices, 5G/6G chips, automotive systems, smart sensors, and more. The FAMES project is not only advancing these technological capabilities but also placing a strong emphasis on sustainability, addressing environmental challenges within semiconductor manufacturing.
As Ferro4EdgeAI continues to push the boundaries of AI hardware and memory technologies, we are proud to be a part of this transformative effort in the European semiconductor industry. FAMES aligns with our mission to foster collaboration, innovation, and sustainability in microelectronics, positioning Europe as a leader in the global AI and semiconductor sectors.
