Eunjin Koh, Nick Barrett, Lucía Pérez Ramírez, Jacopo Remondina (IM2NP, France) and Thomas Cornelius (IM2NP, France) have completed an X-ray diffraction experiment at the DIFFABS beamline of the SOLEIL synchrotron (Saint-Aubin, France).

This past 14th to 17th of September, the 2026 E-MRS Fall Meeting took place in Warsaw, Poland. Hosted by Warsaw University of Technology, the meeting featured 25 symposia covering a wide range of topics, including materials for electronics, optoelectronics and biomaterials, as well as materials modelling and characterization.

24th Non-Volatile Memory Technology Symposium took place in Tokyo October 13-15, gathering around 100 people from the community in a context where memories (especially DRAM/HBM and 3D NAND Flash) are at the forefront of AI blooming.

150 delegates gathered for the 14th international LEEM-PEEM workshop at Tokyo University from 5^th to 9^th October 2026.

Several talks highlighted progress in momentum imaging or k-PEEM, notably on 2D and related materials. Another strong point was the development of time resolved PEEM experienced using pulsed laser sources.

Eunjin Koh and Nick Barrett completed a hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (HAXPES) experiment at the BL09XU beamline of the SPring-8 synchrotron (Sayo, Japan). The beamtime was dedicated to investigating the effect of the HfO₂/ZrO₂ laminate interface on the oxygen vacancy concentration.

The Novel High-k Workshop was held from March 24 to 26 at NaMLab in Dresden, Germany. The 20th anniversary of the discovery of ferroelectric doped HfO₂ was celebrated with 36 oral presentations, ranging from theoretical and experimental studies on ferroelectricity in HfO₂ to device applications of ferroelectric doped HfO₂.

More than 130 scientists took part in the 2026 edition of the 37th annual workshop on Fundamental Physics of Ferroelectric, in Tours, France from 2nd-5th February. 58 oral and 56 poster presentations covered a wide range on the physics of ferroelectricity and related phenomenon, with both experimental and theoretical approaches.

The emergence of hafnia-based ferroelectric (FE) memories has opened a new paradigm for ultra-low-power edge computing. Hafnia is fully compatible with CMOS technology and offers extremely low power consumption—up to three orders of magnitude lower than other emerging memory technologies.
